The Hot n Lathered Soap Co

Western Red Cedar Soap Dish

$1.50

Handmade soap is quite different from soap you might buy in a store. Lather from most store-bought soaps comes from surfactants or detergents. Synthetic surfactants are harsher on the skin and can strip the skin of moisture. That’s why handmade soap is so fantastic for sensitive skin, and why soap from the store can leave the skin feeling dry and overly “squeaky clean.”

However, due to the lack of surfactants, handmade soap doesn't last quite as long in the shower, and if left in a puddle of water can start to turn soft and mushy. To counteract this, use a soap dish (like our Western Red Cedar Soap Dishes) or a shower rack to allow the soap to fully dry out between uses.

Care of your cedar soap dish: wipe clean with a damp cloth.
